Comcast Fires TechTV Staff

I‘ve just learned that G4 has fired the entire staff of TechTV.
Per the WARN Act (governing plant closings) all the employees of TechTV have been given 60 days notice. The San Francisco operation will be shuttered by July. 100 of the existing jobs will be posted for those willing to relocate to LA.

Outgoing COO, Joe Gillespie will say good-bye to the troops tomorrow. Incoming CEO Charles Hirschorn will say hello (and good-bye) on Monday.

No word on which shows G4 will keep or which hosts will be kept on.

  1. This really sucks. Leo..you are da man! You’re network is great. It was better when it was ZDTV, but that’s besides the point. The staff of TechTV should get together and form a new network. I am sure you would not be short of financial backers. This just sux sux sux sux sux sux sux sux sux. Did I meantion this sux?
It is a dark day. My favorite network and the arguably the best network on TV is now gone.

  2. What the hell is this world coming to when a cable company buys a network and fires anybody. This is the biggest pile of bullS@#@ I have ever heard. Comcast is making a big mistake by firing the gang from Tech TV. I t is a sad day in the Technology World. I’m really pissed off now because Tech Tv makes up 90% of my TV watching Time. I watch the channel even if there are nothing but re-runs on, just because I like the personalitites on the shows. Comcast needs to Re-think this decision. I have learned so much from watching Tech TV and it will make me very upset that they will take a channel that is so great and toss it away like a rotting peice of trash to more than likely make more room for a completely ignorant channel that shows more crap to rot out brains. At least with Tech TV all the Techies can Rot their brains learning intelligent information. I will Truly miss everyone from all the TV shows. You all have made a big impact on how I look at computers today.

  4. I felt a big lump go straight down, my chest when i read the news. When leo was doing call for help, and the screensavers. I learned so much, Leo i want to thank you because after the past 2-3 years i have watched TechTV, i learned so much. Even to purse my education into IT security, and network security. I don’t want anyone at Techtv to go, I just learned so much plus i met Patrick Norton at defcon 11. So in a way i feel very sad to see everyone go and the channel, I will protest it as long as i can. And Leo i hope one day i meet you since i learned too much from you and the shows you were on.

  5. well this blows!!!!!
i cant believe that G4 can be this dumb. isn’t it better for them to leave the on air talent and
keep the TTV viewers “happy”? instead the fire everyone. i truly don’t think that is sound
business thinking. lets just see how bad the channel becomes now.
my best wishes to all the TTV members in finding a new work.

  6. The bung holes at Comcast are completely f#@ked up. What a bunch of stupid butt munching di@k wads. F U Comcast. Eat Sh!t. Go stick your face up a donkey’s blow hole and suck like you mean it. Crawl into the gutter and drowned in your own power drunk vomit. Eat 27.5 hard boiled eggs and pass out in the stink of your melodorous butt bombs. Plunge a weed eater up any orifice and turn it on full speed. Lick maggot infested bubble gum off of the sidewalk and swallow it raw. When you call your Mom on Mother’s day I hope she tells you that your father never liked you. God Bless

  7. TTV is the only reason why I payed over $150 at my university to get extended cable! you guys deserve better…I am starting a petition around the entire New York system higher education systems…we will show them what happens when they try to take away our TTV!!
also, I have been a loyal follower since the day it started..my family has had digital cable for many years now, and I have to say the only reason why we kept it was to watch your zanyness on tv! you must land on another network(if G4 does not hire you back) that can be seen up here in Buffalo!

  8. I’ve been watching TechTV since it started out as ZDTV on my big dish. I must say that I have learned a lot from you Leo and the rest of the TechTV crew. I have helped many people from the knowledge I have gained from TSS,CFH,Fresh Gear, and other great shows on TechTV. I’m glad that I got to talk to you once Leo when I got through on TSS(I still have my T-Shirt 🙂 I wish you and eveyone else at TechTV the best of luck with your futures.

  9. Look we all know that G4 sucks ass with the exception of a couple hot girls that are on that channel, but for comcast and G4 to get rid of Sarah, Jessica, Stephanie, Morgan and all of the other Hot TTV babes, as well as the cool guys like Martin and Kevin and the rest of the gang. this is an outrage. Who in the Blue Hell is Comcast trying to impress? It sure isn’t going to be the Millions and Millions of Tech TV’s Fans. They need to get there Heads out of their Roody Poo Candy Asses. Geez!!!! Next thing you know they will wanna combine the Fodd Channel with Cartton Network. I can see it now, Emeril Legace will be trying to catch the Roadrunner for his next show while Samurai Jack takes on one of the Iron Chefs. You know I thought Presidents and CEO’s of Companines like this were supposed to be smart. Well I guess I was way off because The meatheads in charge of this whole crap shoot need to be beaten sensless for ruining such a great Lineup.

  10. This is ridiculous. If I had Comcast, I would CANCEL my service with them. Since I don’t, I cannot take the liberty and feel the joy of doing such. Thank God for Insight cable. Unfortunately, I do not have TechTV on my analog service, but I would really want it. I watch it at my parent’s house a lot, and I watched it constantly when I had DirecTV. I no longer have DirecTV as I no longer live with my parents.
Heck, if I had Comcast’s monopolistic service, I would have cancelled it with them years ago. Don’t squeeze out the little man! I know it’s all about business, and profits are what matters. Just because Comcast has the financial backing to be able to do such a move, doesn’t mean that they SHOULD make this move. At this point, I am so angry that I would like to see Comcast ultimately fail, and anyone and everyone in charge of this firing to lose their jobs, and never get jobs again.
I would like to see the innocent employees of Comcast get equalivalent or superior jobs, however. We don’t want to see the innocent out of work. Think about that one, Comcast!

  11. Tech TV has been the greatest source for me to get almost tech savvy. I did not grow up in the tech revolution and have spent the last 2 years trying to use a computer for more than just E-mail. Tech TV has helped me break thru this barrier somewhat and I will feel its’ loss deeply. NOWHERE on the web do I find sites that treat the novice with as much dignity as Tech TV. Other sites would do well to learn from the example T-TV sets. IT IS MY HOPE that Leo and his gang seek funding thru whatever channels are available to them to start a new show and repeat the success the have with the 40+ million viewers that they currently reach. If each viewer sent $1.00……….

  12. OMG?! How could they fire you guys and force you to relocate??!!! In fact it should be the other way around-the G4 staff should be fired and forced to relocate. TTV is so much more popular than G4, so why are they forcing TTV to do down to G4’s crappy level?! I bet this all has to do with viewership since TTV is available to more people and more people watch. Those[comcast] greedy bastards. TTV ownz G4.
I really hope you guys find better jobs.

  13. TechTv Fans looks like a great time buy a satellite dish from Direct TV or the Dish network. If you have Internet by Comcast you can get another ISP, like Roadrunner. The only way to beat these ass wholes is to take their money away. And show them who are the real boss (WE ARE!). Comcast is no different form Microsoft, can’t beat them, buy them out and run them out of business. I will not support MS, Comcast or G4 as well as ANY advertisement on their network. We need to get the word out and take down the Comcast beast. For those of you who Comcast Internet watch out! They are watching you in your home thru your cable box! If you have more that one user on your Internet account (a network) Comcast can and will knock you off the Internet. This is only the beginning people the worse is yet to come! And let not forget Paul Allen started this whole mess, lets boycott everything he owns too. Billion Bastaed

  14. This is just sad… I wouldn’t have expected the comcast buyout to result in this. Comcast has had shady practices, but this is just moronic. The TechTV staff is what made TechTV great. I will no longer be watching TechTV and The Screensavers will sadly no longer be a season pass. Without the AllStar TechTV staff I’ve come to know and love it just wouldn’t be worth watching 🙁
I will however keep my eyes here to see what your (Leo) next pursuit will be.

  15. A real sad state of affairs. You can’t trust big business or government They are like Rattlesnakes, you know they will strike, you are just not sure when. TSS and CFH were great sources of info for all levels of computer enthusiasts. The other shows, some were entertaining, some such as Robot Wars would be a lot better if not for the agravating emcee. It is a sorry time in the history of the personal computer industry, and I hope Comcast loses their a__.

  16. Hopefuly there is still hope. There was a link that Leo gave us to the story about this ( http://news.com.com/2100-1026_3-5207821.html?tag=nefd.top ) While it states that the staff was fired, it also states that, “the company plans to hire 80 people from the San Francisco office to work at the game channel’s Los Angeles headquarters.” It also goes on to state, “G4 plans to maintain the San Francisco office as a production facility run by a few employees.” But Leo did go on to say that all were fired and that the San Francisco location would be shuttered in July.
My own feeling is that at least for a while and probably past July, TSS will be maintained in San Francisco until they can eventually move the show to LA by bringing in hosts that are willing to relocate. I think the shuttered was told to employees to make sure the 80-100 people will move to LA. Would you move if you were told we are keeping your office here but won’t let you work out of it?

  17. Comcast is foolish for not laying out the plans for the network. Sure they may cut their nose of to spite their face, but at what cost? Comcast offers 2 services to my home, one is cable tv and the other is my internet service. The question is how many viewers that watch Call for help or screen savers get both services from comcast. I do! I watch call for help and screen savers because of my love for my computer. They will loose about $160.00 a month from me. that is not including any of the on demand channels I might get in a month. I watch news and techtv and thats it… go figure.

  18. I’m kinda happy to see them shutting it down. Hopefully all the yuppie losers(kevin, sarah, yoshi, etc.) will have to get a real job for once in there lives….who am i kidding, they will be sitting in front of some computer in an air conditioned office doing nothing accept putting more money in there pockets. useless lives if you ask me.

  21. Well, it may be too late but for Comcast information I have had both G4 and TechTV on my local cable provider (MediaCom) for the last couple of years. I watch most of the TechTV line up on a fairly regular basis. I have NEVER watched G4. It just isn’t engaging. I hope Comcast comes to their senses before it’s too late.
By the way, the ambience of San Francisco was a welcome backdrop to so many of the shows. Besides, don’t they get the fact that MOST of the stories of interest to us geeks have roots in Silicon Valley. Yet another case of clueless producers changing the very aspects of content that make it attractive in the first place.
Best of luck to Leo and all the rest of the gang. Hope you find a venue to continue producing excellent content in. If G4 doesn’t buy a clue, I know I won’t be watching.

  22. Personally I’m not sad to TechTV go. Why? I didn’t like how it was presenting technology to people. They think that “cute” girls whereing skimpy, fashionable clothing know technology? Give me a break. It was good when it started. Then it turned into a “gizmo” channel. It didn’t help that the hosts acted so damn weird, and were just actor’s and not really people-in-the-know.
I want a show that has REAL COMPUTER TECHNICIANS, as HOSTS, showing the products. Not a glamorized, comedy of tech products.
I also hated, how those hosts always had to add little jokes or whatever or start laughing about something. I want a REAL TECH SHOW, with SERIOUS PEOPLE promoting the products. Laughing, giggling, and “trying” to be real and know-it-all, doesn’t work for me.
Also having people write letters to them and have them explain over TV stupid stuff like….(What is the difference between PCI and AGP slots? Can I use a soundcard in either slot?) That’s just plain stupid to put on TV.
Be serious next time when creating a technology show!!!!

  23. Leo, Just keep posting your KFI shows on your website for download so we can stay in touch with your technology world and to find out were you land. I love downloading your shows and listening to them in the car when I commute to work or travel for business.
BTW, I’ve been a fan of your shows since 1999. I am a computer professional and have programmed, ran computer centers, and worked in this industry for well over 30 years. Much of what you do on TV and now on Radio keeps my computer knowledge up to date. Without a show like yours programs like SpyBot, Adaware, AVG, and many other useful computer technology knowledge I have learned from you would have not been possible working day in and day out in my little world.
Get back on TV soon and let us all know how and where we can tune you in.

  24. i WAS NICER THAN COMCAST, I COULDNT USE A COMPUTER BEFORE THAT IDIOT LEO, I LOVE TO YELL AT THE SCREEN AND GET LOTS OF FREE HELP,,,,, THAT IS THE PROBLEM FREE STUFF AND FREEER SPEECH ABOUT PRODUCTS. I HOPE COMCAST DIES!!!! i AM SO FUCKING PISSED TOO BAD I WANT TO SWEAR sCREW COMCAST ASN I HVE TO PAY THEM FRO PHONE SERVICE CAUSE THEY TOOK MINE OVER!!!fuck them

  25. The chicken little attitude is a little alarming. Do you really think Comcast would spend millions of dollars on a television station and not keep the best shows? This merger was just what BOTH channels needed. TechTV seemed to be drifting aimlessly for a while. Much of their best progrmaming can be tied to three maybe four shows, which will probably crossover. I say hooray as G4 programming leaves alot to be desired and hopefully most of the TechTV staff will stick around.
I seriously doubt most people will “cancel” their cable. Lets face it with paul Allens track record, it was inevitable that Tech TV would be on the chopping block. Its better that Comcast bought them than they drift off to network heaven, or hell. 😉

  26. It’s been said a million times so this is a million and one. This sucks!! I changed my cable service just to get techtv! I will miss techtv and Leo. Comcast is the only cable provider where I’m moving to so I guess I’ll be getting direct tv or something else. I refuse to spend my money on a cable service who has no regard for the viewing public! I hope comcast doesnt have any type of ownership in direct tv. Guess I’ll have to do some research.

  27. I was really sorry to read about the future state of Tech TV in the paper today. I realized the meger with G4 was happening, but was totally blown away about the firings and future closing of the SF office. It just made me wonder what the hell Comcast thinks it’s doing with this G4 merger. Alienating…make that pissing off…the current loyal Tech TV viewership seems to be a pretty stupid tactic when you want to build on the best that Tech TV and G4 have to offer. While I’m thinking about it, does G4 have anything good to offer? Comcast better realize that it’s not just the shows that grow on you, but also the folks you see on the tube everynight. It’s the same reason why folks watch the same newscast night after night or get hooked on their favorite comedy show. I’ve been a big fan of Tech TV for over two years now, finding it educational as well as entertaining. I’ll miss it, that’s for sure. Best of luck to the Tech TV staff and crews during this rollercoaster ride. I hope this all works out in the end.

  28. After reading G4TechTV’s schedule, I’m not quite so angry at Comcast, and think that they actually have the right idea– mix the tech and the gaming, don’t keep one or two tech shows as an afterthought. HOWEVER, they’re missing a couple of shows that could be used in place of the nostalgic but completely unrelated to modern tech Thunderbirds, and … um, something else (I’d say Anime Unleashed which, while a good idea, has yet to really produce much of note when compared to the Toonami/Adult Swim juggernaut): Call for Help (actually tech-related and helpful for everyone– and it’s hosted by Leo and Cat) and Tech Live (although, preferably, at a non-primetime slot).

  29. Sadly, there will be lots of people who watch and enjoy G4. I honestly don’t think that any effort to “save” TechTV or our favorite shows will work. I think efforts would be better spent getting those shows revived on another network. For example, CFH would work extremely well on the DIY network. As would Fresh Gear (although G4 will be keeping that name).
We need to start lobbying CNN, DIY, The Science Channel and others to look at picking up or producing new shows with our favorite hosts from TechTV. DIY already has a studio in SF, so they may be interested in buying the existing facility from TechTV/G4.
Since there’s no longer a reason to pay $$ for DirecTV (I only kept it because we don’t get TechTV on cable locally), I’d be more than willing to spend that money on a CFH subscription. Leo, I don’t know if you read the posted comments in your blog, but I think you might seriously want to investigate this subscription thing proposed. It doesn’t even need to be a “live” call-in show. I’d be happy if you just answered e-mails.

  30. Hi Leo,
I’m writing you this personal letter from my heart, and yes I know it looks like a lamentation, what can I say… that’s how I really feel right now…. All the times I’ve stayed at home just to see you on CFH, missed events, missed family reunion (don’t worry, I see them enough as it is…)…
I’m really shocked. Ever since I got my digital Satellite connection, about 2 years ago, I’ve got hooked on TTV… A funny, educational, entertaining show.
Not to mention all the hot babes in the various shows like TSS, CFH, etc. (that were my main shows in this channel). They really touched me throuh the glass screen of my TV. So much alive, way beyond other TV shows that leave me untouched… When I visited SF, about a years ago, for the first time in my life (I am Israeli), and it was my first visit to dreamland USA, I was so sorry I didn’t have the time to ask to enter one of the recordings of the people and the shows that make up a hugh sum of my TV watch time – what else if not CFH?!…
Hei Leo, I realy hope, like many other people have said before me, You’re really the King!! your shining personality glows over the screen, no doubt. The easy-going way, the laughs, radiating smiles that are so clearly seen to come right from inside of your personality, the way that you explain some complex Mac or PC problem solving is simply amazing for me. I’d sit down with a pen and paper and just wait impatiently for those tips of the day by Kat Schwartz or others, to the new site revelations (at least for me), and all other practical tips… I’ll really miss you, man…
The only hope I have now, is that you will do whatever you can to MAYBE? fulfil the hopes of very many people here, to gather the great team around you, and start your own program, through the Internet, so that we can all continue to receive/watch you worldwide. Don’t be mistaken, many people will pay good bucks for a subscription to your own Tech TV on the Internet, and NO ONE can EVER take this away from you, unless the Internet closes… and that will happen one day AFTER HELL freezes…
I also have no doubt that with your reputation and personality you should have no problem at all to get yourself quite a nice list of sponsors, right on the start, to help you build and equip a modest, small scale studio, to help broadcast the shows from. You just don’t need any large scale expensive studio for Internet broadcasting.. Actually, a regular room that’s been styled will do! Who cares anyway, as we get you and your wonderful staff…
Good luck, Leo, both my heart and my hopes for a continued services to the public and meeting with you on the TV/computer screen are with you and will escort you wherever you go, whatever you do!
And a warm thnx to all your staff ,Patrick, Sarah, Kate, Yoshi, etc. (I apologize for all those I haven’t mentioned, I just cannot remember all their names by heart) and I hope they overcome the unpleasent blow and continue on TV, hopefully with you.
That’s horrible, I really feel like I’ve lost a family member…Sad, very sad.

  32. Change and fresh direction is good. Time will tell if this move makes TechTV bigger and better or not. I thought G4 was a mac, never heard of it as a channel. I hope they know that The Screensavers, Call for Help, Fresh Gear and TechLive crowd is a big draw. Its not all about gaming and how to mod an X-Box. I also quite liked like the Brit shows they piped in. I haven’t seen that “Big Thinkers” show in a while, that was interesting.

  33. Sad to here about 100 employes being fired from TechTV
and also hopefully TSS,X-PLAY and CFH can find a home
on the new network and to I would like to see Leo and
Adam countine on with the new channel.I have watched
TechTV ever since I got my DirecTV sat four or five
years ago so I am a long time viewer but its sad to
see familer faces leave I just hope Leo and the gang
from CFH can transfer over to G4 and to the same goes
for Adam&Morgan and also TSS.Because these guys our
kind of like family because you see them day in day
out talking techstuff in which I like but its still
sad to see Techtv go (sniff)

  34. Nooooo!!!! Not my TechTV!! This is one of the only channels I ever watch. The shows on TechTV are informative beyond the norm and the personalities make it fun to learn. Please oh please don’t take away my TechTV. Please oh please don’t fire those hard working talented, skillful people!! I couldn’t stand to see them go.

  35. Leo, when you first started out on TV I emailed you and asked if they would keep this show going over the long run……you indicated that things were sound….I had hoped that this would be for many more years than it has been…..since then the original investors have sold out but it was a good run….TechTV is good group of product and fantastic entertainment….if Comcast misses the boat and doesn’t hire everyone back….they have made a bad business decision…you guys are where it is happening in this competitive environment for audience…..
Thanks guys for the great shows and the information that makes the American culture tick…Good luck to you all.
    Joseph Nowoslawski, M.D.

  36. never posted before but was watching tech tv – screensavers (as usual) – and noticed the commercial for http://www.g4techtv.com website – they have posted some details of shows that will make the transition – call for help is sadly missing 🙁 – I have been watching tech tv for 4 years since I moved to the USA from Britain and it was the only channel in a sea of trash that was entertaining – it’s a sad day but as we all know Tech TV (and it’s other variations and name sakes) have transitioned to the wonderful channel we have all come to love – I wish everyone the very best and I will continue to watch the new channel with great hopes of seeing the people I have watched everyday for 4 years – Leo I wish you the very best, you are a gem of a presenter and I will continue to search you out on whatever channel you appear on.

  37. This is a sad day Ive been watching zdtv since directv took over primestar back in 1999 and absolutely love call for help and the screen savers Leo Laporte is like an older borther to me i have learned so many things from tech tv and now there gonna merge it with some video game channel that sucks well i hope the keep leo cat pat kevin sarah foo yoshi jessica and becky worley on the new network because comcast sucks I will boycott this channell if they dont keep the great talent of techtv on!!!!!!

  38. Dear Leo, Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Patrick Villegas, Chris Prillo, Cat, and rest of the techtv staff
For three years, I watch your extrodinary shows since I got Knology. I know you forced by the G4 and it is not right thanks to Comcast (Hate that company). Even if you are in G4, you’ll not be booed on or other techtv staff. Thanks for solving my CD-R and CD-RW problem, emailing you was a lot better option than being on Live TV!!! These comments below will be a great comments to the staff
    My Comments by Brian E
Leo Laporte/CFH Staff: Thanks for your intersting show CFH (Call for Help). You taught me a lot on computers and show me cool files like Particle Jam to try to make it to the TOP 100 scores. I glad you didn’t to this for the money unlike those techinican in businesses, instead you help other by many options to solve our problems and the contests are ALL THAT!!! I pray for you buddy and the staff to deal with this evil company that cares about greed (as their sin).
Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb: Your reviews are amazing and well defined. You both show the games that are worth the money and the fun in the game-deciding system. Thank you for reviewing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles (GameCube) for bringing me a good challenge and review on that game (owned by Konami, #1 favorite gaming company)
Chris Prillo: Despite your youth, you are one smart dude!!! Keep up the good work.
Patrick Villegas/TSS staff: Thank you for activites I can try to spice up the excitement of my life in technology and software.
Cat: Good Job in tell the people for the audience and the world
Rest of techtv staff/CEO/COO/others: Thanks for supporting us
Good bye Techtv, I miss you, *sniff* :(. My summer is ruined by games. One more thing Leo, the cable companies will lose their money without your show when CFH is gone on May 21. It will be a dark day for cable companies. Peace forever dude and God Bless!!!

  40. oh this is so so so so sad I know what all of you are going through . I use to work for directv broadband and when they fired all 900 of us in the cafeteria it hurt and still does to this day. Knowing that my favorite TV channel is going away is really really gonna leave a hole in this geeks heart :(. If I had the money I would hire all of you back without even blinking. I could go on for hours how all of you have touched my life and given me inspiration to continue in the tech world. Becuase of all of you at TechTv I am and will always be proud to say I am UBER GEEK :). good luck to you all.

  42. You all have probably already outlined this in your posts but G4 doesnt seem to be keeping CFH. http://kevinrose.typepad.com/ And it looks as though there will be no more TTV in Canada where I live. Many memories, of watching it on satellite back in the days of ZDTV. then TTV split from ZDTV and became independent and now G4 and now i hear somethin gabout Comcast. I just really hate this, no more TTV for me… its another saaaaaaad day.

  43. First I discovered the SciFi channel. Life was good. Then, Time Warner forced me to upgrade my cable service to ‘digital’. I rarely had the inclination to browse the stratosphere of channels above SciFi (that channel being 65 where I live), but fate brought me to 117, TechTV, about 6 months ago. ONLY SIX MONTHS. What a pisser. I was totally hooked. The irony is that during the TechTV commercials I would wonder over to G4. G4 was the filler. TechTV was the meat.
So, now I’ll have to be happy with just SciFi again and try to get used to Stargate SG1. Oh well. I live in the LA area, so I can still HEAR Leo’s radio show on KFI.
TechTV cast & crew, thanks for your great works. As a team you’ll be missed, but I’m sure you’ll all entertain and inform us again in you own ways.

  44. Guys this is the worst news besides bush sending our troops to iraq. I’ve made a career change in may of 2003 from a golf greenskeeper for the last ten years to a repair / network technician. Shortly after starting school I discovered TTV and since then I’ve learn more than you know. You guys have helped me advance my career with the hundreds and hundreds of tips and articles. Leo, Parick, Kevin, Sarah, Cat, Jessica, Foo and yoshi you guys kick ass and I will boycott anything having to do comcast and its sponsors, not that it will do anything but if enough of us do it we can shut these ass whole down.

  45. I’ve never watched G4, but I decided to give it a chance and I can now safely say that watching four strange looking guys sit around and talk about games sucks. Two days in a row yet! And cheat codes. Who cares about cheat codes. Oh, yeah, ten year olds. I’m afraid one of my favorite channels is going down the tubes. It’s much more fun watching Morgan and yes even Adam (at least he dosn’t have strange chin hair). New fad I guess!
I sure hope somebody finds a way to keep everyone at TechTv on the air, just as it is. It was bad enough seeing Megan, Sumi and Michaela
leave, but they all had good reasons. They weren’t fired. I’m still finding this an odd thing to do. I’d like to think that the people running Comcast
aren’t that far out of the loop. Now after watching the sample shows of G4 I’m not so sure. It seems like something else is going on behind closed
doors. Like Billy G. getting tired of Leo and Pat talking too much about Micro’s Big Gapping Holes. Maybe someone over at Apple should think
about starting a new tech channel. Am I wrong or does that sound like a good idea?

  46. I say we sacrifice Jim Louderback to the television gods and pray for a miracle. Or we can just relish in the fact that despite our Comcast subscriptions (basic cable) we can’t watch TechTv..but hey, I’m all for the fifty shows on gaming. God forbid they just have one…

  47. I was checking the line up for the new station, and I have to say I am outraged!!! How dare they get rid of the programs we all love. There are three reasons I even watcg Tech TV, two of them are still on, but the third Call For Help, is no longer. This is very upsetting to me, and I have written a long letter to the folks at the new network. Personally I don’t even know if I will watch this new channel. I really do doubt it. Either way Leo, sorry to hear about this. I live in Rhode Island, so getting you on the radio is kind of impossible. Know you and the rest of the Tech TV staff who are fired are in my thoughts.

  48. alot of people here dont even read… THEYRE NOT KILLING TECHTV!! they killed jobs! why the hell would you buy something just to kill it off??? my rant is this: its really sad for people to lose jobs. people who dont have anything else for them to pay their bills, to feed their family, etc. it is a sad, sad thing. if i had the money, i’d just buy the network and try to market it in a different way. over here in my country, alot of people i know watch techtv. what will happen then? no more techtv over here just because they changed networks? sucks. this is an outrage. i hope their souls go to hell when they die.

  49. TechTV is the greatest. They may have hot chicks working on most of the shows, but hey sometimes thats needed to get some new viewers. Ta hell with G4. I mean don’t get me wrong I like Xplay and all, but I don’t wanna know just strictly about games all the time. I’m not a frickin’ gamer. Ugh!!! I guess the bottomline is all that matters in the end.

  50. I started watching techtv when I first started to work at Saban animation way back when and loved the channel since. G4… a couple of my friends were asked to be on the show, most declined, those who didn’t wish they did. That’s my personal take on it. I know exec’s are desperate for money but appealing to gaming is 1) a smaller audience, 2) doesn’t enhance the general public’s intellect as a whole. Leo, you were never my favorite person on TSS but the services you provided on Screen Savers and Call for help has be invaluable to me. I just moved to a new place and was wondering if I should fork out the extra money for cable, now I know I shouldn’t. You now have a new listener on your radio show, Leo. :p
TSS was great. Tech can be reported and taught by anyone, but it was the chemistry of the people, the personality of the people that brought it to life. It was the personal interest of individuals like yourself, Patrick and the rest of the TSS crew that made something as sterile as technology into something that’s almost alive. No techtv… I litreally don’t have a reason to watch anymore. Thanks for all your great work Leo. I hope to hear more of it on your radio show.
P.S. I currently live in LA and I have no interest in seeing TSS in LA. They have something in their personality that comes from living in SF. I hope G4 will realize their mistake. When that happens, I’ll buy cable again.
