Revised prices

So many people complained about the prices of the items in the store (and I agree they are high) I’ve decided to cut them to $2 over the Cafe Press wholesale price. In other words, there’s $2 profit per item.
For those of you who (over)paid for items, send me a note and I’ll gladly refund the difference. My apologies for the inconvenience.

I do appreciate the response to the Leoville store. It’s not going to be a great money maker (I’ve earned about $60 so far) but it does help pay for the expenses of running the web site. And I think it’s nice to be able to offer the items for the folks who want ’em.

  1. Sheesh! Now you’ve gone from “Leo is a capitalist pig!” to “Leo is a PUSHOVER capitalist pig!”… πŸ™‚

  2. I didn’t think the prices were all that unreasonable. I’d pay more if I had to, but thanks.
‘Tis a pleasure doing business with you. πŸ™‚

  3. Everything Kathleen said. Good grief, Leo, I can’t see going to you to get a few dollars back. (Well, it’d be more than just a few in my case. I went a little nuts in the ol’ Country Store. Can you blame me? ) You are such a stand up guy. :::getting misty::: I do have a joke here about getting my refund in person, but I’ll just tuck that away for later, ‘K? πŸ˜‰

  4. OK, maybe it’s just me, but those prices didn’t seem high at all. Not to mention that it’s for such a worthy, wonderful cause!
    Long live Leoville!!!

  5. Ha, HA! Price war!!!! I’ll undercut your prices and only make 50 cents on each item at my http://www.howlinowl.com/store.html !!!! My items are made overseas by cheap slave labor!!!!
Seriously, I set up my own “I’m not Nelson” store just so I could purchase a hat for work. Cafepress is good for getting custom items, especially gifts. I had photographed and scanned our family coat of arms and had it put on coffee mugs for my parents for Christmas.
Your prices aren’t too out of line, Wil Wheaton’s cost more.

  6. Hey Leo,
I still want to push the FREE Commerce.cgi (http://www.commerce-cgi.com) program !! It would maybe take you a-half-an-hour to customize to your needs. Then sign-up with a PayPal sort of credit card processor. And finally work out a distribution deal with some small local company. I’m assuming at this point in time the only tax hastles you may have would be confined to California.
BTW, the U.S. Governors have a serious eye on charging Internet commerce taxes… watch out folks!!
“If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare, and are the sole and supreme judge of the general welfare, they may take the care of religion into their own hands; they may appoint teachers in every state, county and parish and pay them out of their public treasury; they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union; they may assume the provision of the poor….. Were the powers of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for, it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited government established by the people of America.”
James Madison (Father of the Constitution)
I leave everyone with these words not to purposefully cause the inflamation of nor the inappropriate introduction of political passions in this forum, but rather to point out that mankind has been down these paths of governemnt greed and power MANY times in History (History of Government being the prime inspiration and foundation in the composition of the U.S. Constitution), and we must be ever vigilant for EVERYONE’S sake. In this case the “open spaces” feeling of the Internet…. Copyrighting the “@” symbol indeed!!
    God Bless…Mark

  7. Rats! Kathleen and Jeannette said what I wanted to say. Yup, haven’t had an original thought in a decade or so. ::sigh:: Anyway I thought the prices were fine and I’m keeping the cards I’ve been dealt cause I have a royal flush. I’m so happy this stuff is available and can’t wait for it to arrive. (Goes checks mail. Nope not here yet.) After all you’ve done for us I’m glad to do a little something in return and hey, I’m getting cool stuff in the bargain. Life is good!

  8. contrary to popular belief, just because you are on tv, it does not make you rich. i think it is a good idea to sell some things, especailly when youput alot of ork into it.
i would most certainly would want to have as much cash on hand with the way the ecconomy is right now.
when someone puts hours into prepping for a show, writing articles and working on a book. it takes alot out of you, just putting together a website, people like is akin to a fulltime job.
i am not saying that everything should be outragous in price, but as a perosn who in his spare time, reads about programming and trying to make programs work, write sci fi short stories among other things in my spare time, i know how much work go into things…
not everything in the world is copy/paste…later

  9. I heard about the layoffs at TechTV today. Silicon Spin and Audiofile are cancelled. Will you be effected by any of this Leo?

  10. Leo,
I thank you for the store! I think the prices are not only reasonable, but a good way to get products out easily with no hassle.
After reading your web page I set up my stores (found out you can set up more than one store, name them whatever1, whatever 2 etc then make the link to them with commas ex. http://cafepress.com/store1,store2,store3/ and it will make one big store with mutliple items) with my family website items. Thanks again Leo for this tip!

  11. I honestly thought the prices were just fine. I just keep forgetting to buy the stuff I want. Everyone needs a Leo coffee mug!!!

  12. Honestly I thought the prices were just fine Leo…
Oh and by the way, to Chris above, try typing only thescreensavers.com without www in front, you’ll see it still works.

  13. Well I think the prices were NOT to unreasonable. Plue the money is going to a good cause: http://www.leoville.com and if you visit it I think that you should give donations. Well I know if there was a donations page then I know I would and I would hope you would too!!! So concluding this comment I think the prices were reasonable. LONG LIVE LEOVILLE.
