Summer Mixer

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while. I’ve been busy with the move and finishing the book – only a week late.
The Screen Savers will be dark today so we can go to the TechTV summer mixer. This year they’re giving us all drink tickets. Probably to reduce consumption. Unless they give us 10 each. Too bad I didn’t bring my digital camera to work today.

I had so much fun doing my old radio show on KGO on Sunday that I’m thinking about doing a weekly radio show again. I could do it from my house using an ISDN line and a Telos Zephyr. It’s about $7 grand to set up, but it would be a lot of fun. I’ll keep you posted if I can find an interested radio station.

This weekend the spycam will be on as I write the final words of the book. Watch me sweat. I’m taking Saturday night off, though. Two of our best friends are having birthday parties. The first is a fancy dinner in the wine country. The second is a surprise party, Moulin Rouge style. Everyone is supposed to dress “French sleazy.” And me with my bustier at the cleaners. Rats. Guess which friend is celebrating 50 and which 39.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Simple solution Leo.
Stream your audio to Tech TV’s C band transponder sub carrier at C4-12. That transponder has many open sub carriers. The uplink engineer can feed your audio via isdn, high speed internet audio, or POTS..
All that is need is a GETNER at the uplink and Im sure they would have that.
The sub carrier audio Will Not interfere with the analog feed at all.
Very inexpensive and a great way for radio station across north america to pick up your feed.
Please contact me and I can give you more information on how to set this up.
It would be a great way to promote Tech TV to the C band people out there also.

  7. Leo, being a big fan of “Dark Shadows” (it was a must-see as a teenager, and I still catch reruns on the Sci-Fi Channel), I got a kick out of your references to Barnabas Collins earlier this week. And, when the parody of the Dell computer ad appeared, I almost fell out of my chair laughing! I was browsing the web when the ad started, and honestly thought that it was the actual Dell commercial at first!

  8. Hey Leo —
Saw your segment this morning on Boot Camp — and the part where you searched for Leo Laporte and it suddenly displayed your HOME ADDRESS. Boy, was I excited. Raced upstairs and — oh no — you had changed it already — so I thought. I talked to 15 Leo Laporte’s today — none of them knew anything about computers. One did offer to buy an abacus and mail it to the show however (he really wasn’t very nice to me). Several others were thinking of changing their names because their phones ring off the hook with people complaining about their computers not working, hard drives, memory, java errors, you name it.
Anyway, The Boot Camp tip worked. People are really looking for you. I think you should host a Leo Laporte day and have them all on the show…..
    in fun
    Chris
