Radio Silence

When I was a kid the most suspenseful part of watching space flights on TV was the moment when the capsule re-entered the atmosphere. The intense heat created a few minutes of radio silence. You knew the astronauts were in the midst of the most perilous part of their flight, but you couldn’t hear a thing.
I am about to enter radio silence. After I finish this entry I’ll be unplugging my computer and cable modem and packing them up for the move to the new house. A cable installer is coming out on Friday, but it seems highly unlikely that I’ll be able to get online right away. We’re quite a way from the road and cable has never been installed in this house before.

I won’t be back at work until July 19. Let’s hope the radio silence doesn’t last that long. If it does, you’ll know we’re having a tough re-entry.

  1. im not trying to invade you privacy but how long is the drive from work to home in the new house? i was wondering and thought it took a long time to dirve back and forth, maybe you take a plane? not sure, oh well, have a great vacation and move!

  2. Leo,
With you moving to the country, does this kind of seem like Green Acres? Don’t worry, Leo, I won’t do a Green Acres spoof with you on my site. I’ll just stick to Gilligan’s Island. heh
Glad you are nearing the end of the moving process, Leo. And happy 4th. Glad you survived that demo with Martin and they pyro. heh 🙂

  3. Congrats! Leo on the new house!
It is going to take you a while to get back into the center of things but it will happen! Unless, and I agree with one of your other posters, Scott shows up and you never get your computer on line! lol
Thanx for the memories…and See you soon…

  5. Hey Leo!
    Good luck with your move!
Hope you have no problem getting a cable modem.
We live in the country and can’t get cable at all 🙁
    We’ll miss you…can’t wait for July 19th! 😀

  6. Leo…
Good luck on the move. And happy 4th.
You lucky one, country life and cable access.
Wish we could do that out here in our country side home.

  7. Tough re-entry… mmmmm maby, but I don’t think there’ll be a problem.
Unless Scott comes by… then I’d double check all the items in the boxes…
(Jk, I’m pretty sure Scott’s a great guy once you get to know him.)
Next, Pat will come by… then I’d double check the computers to make sure he doesn’t chow down…
(Jk, I’m sure he wouldn’t do something that crazy… or would he?)
After all that, you’d have a smooth ride…
Anyway, I’m sure it’ll be a smooth re-entry, unless a tornado comes and blows everything away. See you in +2 Weeks Leo!
    Stay Cool.

  8. TechTV, we have a problem. How is TechTV going to survive without Léo for the next couple of weeks? Wait a minute, how are we going to survive?!
Léo, my best wishes to you and your family during the move. This is a huge adventure. Be sure to take time out to enjoy the experience of a new home. Don’t let stress of deadlines interfere. I bet your children are very excited. They will always remember this event. The first few days in a new home are so very important.
Have fun. I will look forward to your re-entry.
    We will miss you,

  9. Hey Leo.Lots of luck with the move this week. Not to worry. We’ll be good do-bees until your return. Don’t worry too much about the radio silence. Your family’s comfort and care should come first always. I know it can be a hassle, but to see the look on your wife and children’s faces when all is said and done will make all the pain in the neck worthwhile. Try to get as much rest as is possible with all the confusion, and the re-entry should be a bit easier to take. Whenever you get back online is fine for us, although you will be missed. Also, congratulations on your new contract with Tech T.V. We’ll be looking forward to seeing you for many year to come. Good luck, and God bless. Safe trip.

  10. Great to here Leo is staying on at TechTV. TechTV is outstanding,I work in the IT field and enjoy watching the show.Surprised to here that Leo is not going to have TV in his home. When my TV breaks down I go through withdrawal symptoms,no TechTV or ScreenSavers:(. No ScreenSavers is like a day without sunshine.I hope Leo’s move to the new house goes well. When I land a better job I hope to buy a house.Leo and Patrick provide education and entertainment to all of us.I feel that the ScreenSavers and TechTV are the best programs on TV. 🙂
