  1. I think Leo Leporte is a dumbshit when it comes to linux. He should shut his mouth about linux, and stick to windows.

  2. GREAT NEWS!!!
Wanted to say thanks for all the help and congrats on your successes.
Been watching since the ZDtv days and you dispelled my irrational fears
of the confuser. I’M NOT WORRRTHY!!!

  3. Leo,
I love watching you on your show, The Screen Savers!
You guys are entertaining and fun to watch, so
it is good to hear that you will be around another three years.
TechTV better be paying you a ton of money!
    ~Edward Wickliffe

  4. Actually, Leo… meant to say, “They can’t do withOUT you, Skipper!” It was early and I didn’t get my wake-up juice yet.
TechTV wouldn’t be able to be without you, Skipper! 🙂

  5. Leo,
LL Lepote. LL you drive a hard bargain! LL we are happy to have you as the head coach of the Portland TrailBlazers. We here at Sculkin Ventures know you are the man to bring us a trophy! With your bench coaches Pee Norton and Marty Mart we know that we have the best in the business!

  6. ALRIGHT!! My Brother Lives in NH and can’t Get Tech TV (lives in the sticks) They say it will be a year or so. There is a God. Also My wife called me a GEEK yesterday. I WAS SO PROUD!
If your ever in Dallas you have a place to stay! PCMATT

  7. WAY TO GO, LEO!!!!!!
Of course if TechTV were to lose Leo, I’d visit my brother in northern California, make a signs that said “REHIRE LEO!!!!” and “WE WANT LEO!!!”. They would say there’s some guy out front picketing TechTV until Leo Laporte was rehired! 🙂
They can’t do with you, Skipper!

  8. Congrats! And if your 3 year plan works out for you…. well who knows what will happen then!
Congrates again to you. For all your good fortune of late.

  9. Congrats, Leo. Three years…hmmm…you had better start negotiating the new contract now and it just might be ready when this one is up!

  10. Leo
Congrats! I really appreciate your candid comments and sharing the “real life” issues you deal with. It is so inspiring to see someone with an exciting career and a healthy family life! Thanks again.
    Chris

  11. Most excellent, Léo!
You forgot to mention that you also produced a TV show yesterday…
Congrats on the new contract and, more importantly, your family’s new home,

  12. Congratulations, Leo! Both on the house and the new contract!
Sounds great for us viewers too — nice to know our Leo will be around for
    awhile. 🙂
By the way, did you read the fine print of your contract? Make sure they
also didn’t give you custody of Scott Herriott. 😉
    Congrats again, Mr. Laporte!
    Joe C.

  13. Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! and
Good Luck! Good Luck! Good Luck!
Congrats on your new contract, selling your old house, buying your new house.
Good Luck with the new house and all that includes, writing the first book and futures books, and especially with building the treehouse for the kids. I have one little question for you…What are you…crazy? Just kidding! You’ve done more in a couple of days than some people do in their lifetime. It’s a good thing you’re such a high energy guy! I (as I’m sure all of your other fans are) am very happy for you and your family.

  14. Congratulations on the new deal, and the new house Leo.
I’ve been watching your TV work ever since I moved to Denver from the UK, and have several geeky British friends who watch you when they come visit.
The new format of The Screensavers is good. The omly change I’d make is to give Megan and Jessica more to do on-screen. I won’t go into my motives here though 😉
Keep on doing what you’re doing, and keep on doing those excellent impressions – particularly Deiter.

  16. Oops! Sorry, I didn’t know what the little faces at the bottom of the blog meant, & I clicked the unhappy face… Anyway, I’ve been reading the message board re: TSS Strategy Sessions. I don’t frequent message boards or chat rooms that often, so forgive me if I’m so square, but why do they have to be so CRUEL & OFFENSIVE in some of their criticisms? I don’t like everything about the new Screen Savers either, but I like most of it well enough to watch it every day. There is a way to offer “constructive criticism”! Leo, just ignore the unkind comments; you are all doing a great job.

  17. Top five perks of Leo’s new contract:
    1) 60% cut of Screen Saver studio audience food and beverage sales
    2) TechTV purchases the rights to “Paradise City” from Axl Rose, so Leo can make his own recording
    3) Deal with HBO to fight the winner of Hasim Rahman-Mike Tyson for the heavyweight boxing title.
    4) Product development to begin immediately on milk chocolate Leo Laporte candy bar
    5) Paul Allen will talk to Bill Gates about renaming Microsoft, “Leo-Data”

  18. I have a little time on my hands due to an injury so I’m giving you guys a dose of whatever it is I’ve got. I haven’t got used to the new message board yet. I kind of like the way the posts are in order on the blog. It feels like home. Two of my neighbors just got new computers. I’ve told them both to watch your show, but I don’t think they have time or whatever. It’s certain they know nothing about them. I drooled over the one guy’s new laptop, even though for the money I think I’d have bought a mac. I’m almost certain he didn’t get the new geforce notebook graphics card in his new Dell. The problem with computers is they don’t hold their value. Two years after buying a brand new computer you’re lucky to get one quarter of your money out of it. The best bet is to buy the cheapest knowing it isn’t going to last no matter how much money you spend. It is past time for me to upgrade but I’m riding this old pile of junk straight to the junkyard I think. Of all the things a computer can do the one necessity is email. Shopping online is a convenience and it can help, but I never had to have any of the products that I purchased online which I couldn’t get any other way. If you have broadband access there are other perks which make the web more useful, but I’ve yet to find a real reason to upgrade to such a service.
Unless you can fix it yourself or have a warranty which covers it, a broken computer is like a dinosaur bone soon to become a fossil in your living space. I have lived with a bug in mine since I bought it and I know what to expect and what its limitations are. Sure I want one which works like its supposed to, but I think most if not all of us have had to put up with some minor quirks just to use are newfound tool. Like everything else we accept what isn’t crucial and try to find workarounds for what is.
when bill gates first tied his browser to the operating system I was pissed and thought something should be done. Now that it’s ancient history I feel he is a monopoly but I also think he’s the only big gun we’ve got in a fight that many of us don’t understand. Why would he invest so heavily into the Xbox unless there was good reason? With the products Sony is releasing for the Playstation two this year it begins to look indistinguishable from a computer. I think Microsoft is beginning the fight of its life, not with the justice department, but with competition in the form of Trojan horse consoles which many seem oblivious to. The question then becomes not whether I should upgrade, but upgrade to what? Should my next computer be a console? I don’t see why not. Price will drive the market and software will follow the masses. two thousand dollar desktops and laptops are the dinosaurs of tomorrow. Of course I could be wrong, but only the future will tell. Good luck with your move Leo and don’t forget to post some pics of that treehouse!

  19. Watched your show the other night when you had the gentleman from the
Soprano’s on. He sang part of Guantanamero. It was great. When you
have time (if ever) hunt for a copy of the Mavericks singing the same
song. I think you’ll like it. It’s quite long so hang in there for all
of it. Congrats on all of your new happenings. Glad to have you for
another 3 years. I receive you on my Direct TV and watch the midnite (my
time) edition. We’re also looking forward to seeing Chris Pirillo on
your network. You stole him from our City (I’m in Des Moines) so we’ll just have to watch him on your channel. Thanks for everything.

  20. Congrats Leo…. Maybe there is still hope for all of us who’ve been around from day one…. I was kinda getting nervous with all the changes the suits were making…. I’ve still got tech live in our death pool for less than a year before they hit the eject button.
Let’s see more of the original content that made TSS the best computer/tech show since Dev Nul’s spots back in the day…..
Keep fighting the good fight Leo
    Andy
